This is a handwoven wool-on-wool kilim from Uşak, Western Anatolia, estimated to be 40–50 years old.
Uşak has been a major weaving centre since the 15th century, producing textiles that were exported across Europe and celebrated as symbols of wealth and refinement. Many Renaissance aristocratic portraits feature Uşak carpets as markers of status. The decorative details in this piece suggest it may have been woven as a dowry gift. Its excellent condition indicates it was likely preserved in a wedding chest or displayed on a wall rather than used on the floor.
